Challenge 5yrs late: build a transformer via decouples
5:08 - people in the uk use mph > km/ph?
Can you imagine if we sent a train to Venus and then it CAME BACK
In space flight simulator it's really easy to get to orbit with ion engines I can even get to the moon really easily, now I'm going to try to get to Mars only using ion engines in SFS
I didn't even realize eclipses were possible in KSP, let alone darkness occurring so quickly
no way you pushed your craft up the mountain for like 1 dv
I know this is years old now, but just curious at 8:00 if there would be an efficiency gain by capturing at Moho in a retrograde orbit (e.g. clockwise when viewed from the north) so you can capture on the sunward side of Moho and make full use of the admittedly weak oberth effect, then once captured into a maximally elliptical orbit, you turn around at apogee which would only require a few m/s. Then you can lower your orbit using tiny periapsis kicks relying only on battery (for greater efficiency). I'm really not sure if the improved capture efficiency with the Oberth effect would counteract the additional DV requirements to turn the orbit around, but it's an interesting thought regardless.
1:47 i hate that i have to be a pedant, but centripetal acceleration comes from gravity in this case.

would it be worth it to use the ejection force of decouplers to your adantage?
the astronauts should voluntarily jump out if you put them on a mission that's too long, like 5 years
Poor lil guy was gone for over 14 years. When did he run out of snacks?
At engine ignition, this spaceplane has more than 5% of the mass of the Empire State Building.
That's cheating! You didn't get all the way to the ground in that last landing --- it doesn't count!
Wouldn't it be more efficent to launch into a polar orbit to get more research?
This airbrake fried potato delivery was much more direct but there was lots low speed time to cool down. 8/10.
Never leave, King.
Man i wish ksp2 wasnt dead :/
Do a video with the fastest circumnavigation, via suborbital trajectory. Let's call is a Challenge!!! Please and thank you!!!
Watching the final approach, I was fully expecting you to land it on the small driveway to the landing pads. It took me a moment to see the VAB, and wow. How do you not stall the craft at 25m/s? That's insane.
Loved it!
It's "nuclear", not "nukelar".
Nuse lear
Beautifully done!
Quirks and features... did not expect a doug reference here ;)
13:14 you did not do it...
real shame the game died
is ksp2 good now?
It’s definitely better, but still missing the ISRU and robotics from KSP1, let alone all the unique content promised. And unfortunately a few weeks ago word came out that the dev studio was shut down, so the chance that we’ll be getting more content at all is slim.
The SWERV is absolutely busted and overperforms to such a ludicrous degree that it's tantamount to cheating, in my opinion. Shame too, as this is unlikely to change any time soon with development all but ceased and the newly-gutted studio stuck in financial limbo. What an absolute clusterfuck this game was. Good riddance to bad trash - now all Take-Two needs to do is release the KSP1 source code to regain some customer faith, sell the IP to someone who actually cares, and fuck off.
:()
could you try the same mission in ksp1 with the Liberator from kerbal atomics? its slightly more powerful than the swerv but the hydrogen has more dry mass.
"After 19 minutes of flying" ... you are not only mad, you are immensely patient as well. Great mission, this was fun to watch!
These videos make me so happg
Lol, I appreciated the ending!
reverse air-hogging! neat.
Does fairing backbone trick works in ksp 2? You could hide ALL fuel tanks from drag with much smaller fairing
I wonder how many times that quicksave at 12:08 was loaded. 😆 Another great video!
bradley is back!!! i just wish ksp 2 didn't run as smooth as rubber on sandpaper
The game’s performance is a lot better than it was last year, especially on saves with fewer ships in flight.
Mr. Whistance, have you considered modded KSP1? there are some really cool parts and planet mods even if you stick to stock-alike stock-balanced stuff
You've got some NERV to make this space plane man...

POV, attacking the D Point with an F-104A
You missed qn opportunity for a classic 1,234kg ship. Incredible work landing in the pool tho I must begrudgingly say...
Did mounting the remaining 7th Whiplash on top of the craft have much of an impact on efficiency in terms of the torque it imparted upon the craft that had to be counteracted by control surfaces? Also oof that final landing, wow.
I imagine it wouldn't have much effect. It's not offset by that much, and is very far ahead of the center of mass.
This didn't have to be an ssto so why didn't u bring big wings and a much bigger plane then detached those wings on orbit and fly the remainder of your flights with this small plane u have right here
Why? Because!
I've been watching your content for more than a few years now, except now I'm 3 years into an aerospace engineering degree. Its fun now actually understanding the engineering terminology you apply to playing KSP and use to make missions with extremely fine tolerances.
What's it like? I've been considering pursuing a degree in that
@@ENCHANTMEN_i’m also 3rd year in aerospace engineering, it’s so fucking cool and i wouldn’t have wanted to take anything else. but when people say that you need to work, you do need to work. don’t expect the “student experience” of lots of partying because imo there’s not enough time for it. for me it was 100% the right choice and i find it so interesting, and the challenge is fun too
Please return to modded KSP 1 :)
this
I mean, if he wants to keep playing KSP 2, why stop him?
@@IvanRodriguez-tl2zr uh... intervention? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hey hey I've seen this one it's a classic.
It was done by turbopumped back in ksp 1 with 5 orbits
Didn't he do 12 orbits at one point?
When I've played ( recently too ) I've found that although atmospheric heating is in there's little to no resistance. For example I tried to aerobrake a Mk1 Capsule, a rather modest and empty Size S Fuel tank and a terrier engine. But I had no change in apoapsis at all when entering the atmosphere to a periapsis of 40km ( standard aerobrake from minmus ). I only noticed drag once I jettisoned the tank and terrier engine and had just the capsule. which of course burned up with the heating and was why I was trying to aerobrake to a decent speed before a final descent. I gave up playing at that point. This was a couple of weeks after the last update and before Take Two pulled the plug. We should petition for KSP2 to be made open source.
Just because there are programming errors does not discredit development (whether it continues or not). Saying that we should just "open source" and magically fix the game is unrealistic at best. It is better to just report the bugs and wait patiently for patches.
@@IvanRodriguez-tl2zr There won't be continued development - So yes it should be made open-source. That would be the best thing for KSP, whether they fired everyone or not it'd be a massive improvement (But they did, so moot point).
